Private Dwelling House - North Yorkshire

NWC were commissioned to undertake full bat surveys as part of the planning process.

The property is well know locally and was survey extensively during August and September 2009.

These surveys confirmed that two species of bat (Brown Long eared and Common Pipistrelle) were roosting within various part of the building in moderate numbers.

As well as the usual monitoring techniques NW used multiple HD video camera to record bats emerging and exiting the building both during night time emergence and on their return to roost and this also included swarming.

The video recordings, visual sightings and recordings from bat boxes and Anabat devise allowed us to determine the numbers involved.

Once planning has been granted a European Protected species Licence will be applied for and work can commence on the reconstruction and alterations to the building.
