Durham Farmhouse

We were initially commissioned to undertake a scoping survey of a derelict former farmhouse in County Durham. An existing bat survey (by another ecologist) had indicated the property was unsuitable for bat habitation and both the Local Planning Authority and Natural England had rejected that report.

The initial scoping survey clearly indicated the property was of significant value to bats and full surveys were commissioned by the owner in order to comply with legislation.

These surveys showed bats were indeed roosting within the building walls and this was backed up with photographic and video evidence.

Once planning consent has been granted a licence application will be required.
