In November 2010, our principal ecologist Graeme Skinner spent three weeks travelling across Australia conducting serpentus research in collaboration with a number of well known herpetologists and also included working with herpetologists undertaking valued rescue of snakes in potentially risky situations. Graeme was also able to spend time working with fellow ecological consultancies to understand and develop transferrable reptile survey and assessment skills that can be applied to our work in the United Kingdom.
The studies were centred on Australian Elapid’s including a many of the worlds most venomous species such as the Brown Snake and Tiger Snake.
The trip was a complete success with many memorable moments recorded on film, some of which have already been published and used in lectures in the UK.
