Bat Research Symposium
The XIth European Bat Research Symposium in Romania in August 2008.
We were also in attendance at the XIth European Bat Research Symposium in Romania in August 2008. This event brought together a plethora of world class bat experts with a packed schedule of short seminars and site visits.
The Symposium explored every aspect of European bat ecology, including migration, hibernation, foraging, predator recognition, echolocation, sociality and many other subject areas.
Project results presented at the event included some groundbreaking studies on wind farm mortalities, foraging over open water, the effects of electromagnetic radiation, virology of bats and rabies in bats, among many more.
The event not only offered a fascinating insight into the latest bat research, but also a chance for NWC to network and share ideas with peers in the industry. The excursions to Romanian bat roosts also stimulated comparisons between British and non-British bat studies and mitigation.
