Expeditions to research and photograph several rare species of amphibian
The team at Naturally Wild are proud to report on the consecutive expeditions made by Graeme Skinner, our Managing Director and Principal Ecologist, to Costa Rica.
The aim of the expeditions was to research and photograph several rare species of amphibian, working with some of the UK’s best known herpetologists. It was a lifetime opportunity for Graeme to visit this Central American country, which possesses the greatest density of plant and animal species on the planet. While Costa Rica makes up just 0.1% of the world’s landmass, it is the proud supporter of 5% of all biodiversity on Earth!
After his initial trip in 2005, Graeme was thrilled to return to Costa Rica on further expeditions both in 2006 and 2007, returning home each time with a greater wealth of knowledge on the amphibians and other wildlife of the country. The experiences gathered over the three trips have been used to develop several formal and educational seminars, illustrated by Graeme’s world class wildlife photography. Graeme is planning to join a further expedition to Costa Rica in 2009 to complete his valuable research.
The seminars represent a fascinating and informative insight into practical conservation research techniques being put to use in tough field conditions. These have been presented to a variety of groups with conservation interests all around the UK.
