New Qualifications for Our Senior Ecologists

Bat Licences & Habitat Identification

Bat Licence

Our Managing Director and Principle Ecologist, Graeme Skinner and Senior Ecologist Frankie Lowe, are now proud owners of Natural England bat licences for all counties in England. This comes after several years of onsite training and specific courses in mitigation and survey techniques. These licences, gained at the end of May 2009, certify their training and enable them to visit a known roost site and even disturb and take a bat by hand.

Grasses and Habitat Identification

Another of our senior ecologists, James Smith, completed a grasses identification course at the beginning of June 2009. This course was led by an internationally acclaimed botanist and was geared towards the development of key habitat identification skills. Undertaken as part of IEEM continuous professional development, completion of this course enables James to identify key areas and types of habitat using a minimal number of indicators.
